Pool, Myers power Rebels to baseball win at Fresno State

Corey Pool went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to back D.J. Myers’ strong pitching and lead UNLV to a 4-2 win over Fresno State in a Mountain West baseball game Friday in Fresno, California.

Myers (2-0) held the Bulldogs (11-7, 2-2) to two runs on six hits and no walks and struck out three in seven innings as the Rebels (8-8, 3-1) won for the sixth time in eight games.

Pool’s two-run homer in the fourth inning opened the scoring, and he had an RBI single in UNLV’s two-run sixth.

Austin Anderson went 3-for-4 with a double, and Payton Squier was 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Rebels, who had a 9-7 edge in hits.

Brody Russell went 2-for-4 with a homer in the fifth, and Aaron Arruda homered in the seventh for Fresno State, which lost its seventh straight.
