GIRLS BASKETBALL: Canyon Springs comes back from halftime deficit to defeat Faith Lutheran

Dayonna Maddox scored 15 points and Canyon Springs’ girls basketball rallied in the second half to defeat host Faith Lutheran 54-42 on Tuesday.

Yemiyah Morris added 14 points for Canyon Springs, which trailed 29-24 at halftime before going on a 20-6 third-quarter run to take control of the game.

The Pioneers outscored Faith Lutheran 30-13 in the final two quarters.

Madison Bocobo scored nine points to lead the Crusaders, and teammates Kendall Larson and Bryanna Neagle had eight points each.

Bishop Gorman 77, Coronado 36 — At Bishop Gorman, Ciara Young led four players in double figures with 17 points as the Gaels routed the Cougars.

Shaira Young scored 15, while Skylar Jackson and Samantha Coleman each had 10 points for the Gaels, who took control early by outscoring the Cougars 23-9 in the first quarter.

Haley Tyrell scored 21 points to lead the Cougars.

Green Valley 53, Rancho 37 — At Green Valley, Temerity Bauer scored 13 points — including three 3-pointers to start the game — to lead the Gators past the Rams.

Jamaica Lewis scored 11 points for Green Valley, which outscored Rancho 21-11 in the first quarter to take control.

Kyndal Ricks scored 12 points to lead the Rams, while teammate Lea Williams added 10 points.

Basic 48, Sunrise Mountain 35 — At Sunrise Mountain, Mikayla Berg had 14 points, and teammate Lauren Powell scored 13 to lead the Wolves to victory over the Miners.

Kailey Taylor added nine points for Basic, which led 21-14 at the half.

Emani White scored 13 points to lead Sunrise Mountain, and Deonica Perry had nine points for the Miners.

Boulder City 49, Bonanza 21 — At Boulder City, Julia Worrall led a balanced attack with 11 points as the Eagles downed the Bengals.

Jerra Hinson added eight points, and Madison Manns scored seven for Boulder City, which led 36-15 after three quarters.

Maysan Raleigh led Bonanza with nine points.

Legacy 62, Mojave 35 — At Legacy, C’Aree Stevenson and Rory Carter each scored 10 points, and the Longhorns rode a 24-2 second-quarter run to a victory over the Rattlers.

Otilia Price supplied eight points and 10 rebounds for Legacy, which had 11 players score.

Charleea Armstrong led Mojave with 12 points.

Western 45, Chaparral 29 — At Western, Millani Johnson scored 16 points to lead the Warriors past the Cowboys.

Adrianna Jones added 11 points for the Warriors, who led 27-7 at the half.

Sierra Shaw scored 15 points to lead the Cowboys.

Pahrump Valley 43, Durango 24 — At Durango, Sabin Chaidez scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Trojans past the Trailblazers.

Rianne Lu had 11 points for Durango, and teammate Analiyah Matthews scored 10.

Moapa Valley 64, Pahranagat Valley 25 — At Overton, Matilda Thompson scored 24 points, including five 3-pointers in the second half, as the Pirates routed the Panthers after trailing at halftime.

Kinlee Marshall added 13 points for the Pirates, who outscored Pahranagat Valley 53-11 in the second half.

Madalyn Taylor scored 11 points to lead the Panthers.

Calvary Chapel 26, Mountain View 24 — At Mountain View, Malia Lee scored 14 points, and the Lions held the Saints scoreless in the first quarter en route to the victory.

Nerel Martin added six points for Calvary Chapel, which led 16-9 at halftime.

Nia Van Kempen led Mountain View with 11 points, and Tayah De’Bouck scored nine.

Agassi Prep 57, Lake Mead 16 — At Agassi Prep, Sharmayne Finley had 19 points, and the Stars strolled past the Eagles.

Sydnei Collier added 12 points, and Destiny Rover scored 11 for Agassi Prep, which led 35-12 at halftime.

Five players finished with three points each to lead Lake Mead.

The Meadows 40, Indian Springs 9 — At Indian Springs, Marcella Peek scored 15 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead the Mustangs in a rout of the Thunderbirds.

Talia Steinwald added six points and nine rebounds for The Meadows, which outscored the Thunderbirds 28-5 in the first half.

Evangelia Tapia scored seven points to lead Indian Springs.

Needles 44, Laughin 21 — At Needles, California, Jayne Antone scored 14 to lead the Mustangs over the Cougars.

Preslee Murch and Valentina Limon each had 10 points for Needles, which led 24-8 at halftime.

Teresa Chapa led Laughlin scorers with 12.

GV Christian 33, Sandy Valley 17 — At Sandy Valley, Jessica Stewart scored 12 points, and the Eagles stormed to a 18-6 halftime lead before downing the Sidewinders.

Hope Watson added eight points for GV Christian.

Cheyenne 54, Cimarron-Memorial 48 — At Cheyenne, the Desert Shields held off the Spartans.

Clark 58, Del Sol 29 — At Del Sol, the Chargers downed the Dragons.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
