GOLF: Magruder, Crusaders win Sunset League match

Charlie Magruder shot 1-under-par 71 Monday at Canyon Gate to lead Faith Lutheran’s boys golf team to victory in a Sunset League match.

The Crusaders placed four golfers in the top five and five in the top seven to win with a score of 385.

J.R. Tuls (77), Greg Price (78) and Mitch Conley (79) all placed in the top five for Faith Lutheran.

Pahrump Valley’s Austen Ancell was second with a 75, and Sierra Vista’s George Kim tied for fifth with a 79.

Pahrump was second as a team with 419, followed by Sierra Vista (453), Clark (498) and Western (553).

Chaparral tops Sunrise Mountain

At Las Vegas National, Sunrise Mountain’s Shawn Wetherby shot 20-over 56 to earn medalist honors in a dual match with Chaparral.

Danny Hubley shot 59 for the Cowboys, who had a team score of 310. Sunrise Mountain did not have a complete team.

Deshon King also shot 59 for the Miners.
