GIRLS SOCCER: Villaneuva helps Grizzlies take Sunset League lead

Savannah Villanueva scored two goals Friday to help Spring Valley's girls soccer team take over first place in the Sunset League with a 3-1 win at Cheyenne.

Samantha Meyers added a goal, and Jozee DeCunzo had two assists for the Grizzlies, who improved to 4-0 in league play.

Girly Tambeagbor converted a penalty kick for the Desert Shields, who fell to 3-1 in the league.

Faith Lutheran 4, Sierra Vista 0 — At Sierra Vista, Megan Donnelly had a goal and an assist to help the Crusaders down the Mountain Lions.

Tierney Tomburo, Kristi Chinn and Mary Martinez each added a goal, and Madison Sonerholm had two assists for Faith Lutheran.

Beka Lescenski made six saves en route to the shutout.

Palo Verde 6, Las Vegas 0 — At Las Vegas, Macee Barlow scored twice to help the Panthers top the Wildcats.

Alexandra Pappa, Hailey Calhoun, Hannah Gunderson and Alex Floratos each added a goal for Palo Verde.

Quincy Lee made four saves en route to the shutout.

Clark 9, Mojave 0 — At Clark, Darian Gambetta scored six goals as the Chargers routed the Rattlers.

Ariana Reyes added a goal and two assists, and Eyker Milan and Dona Acierto each had a goal and an assist for Clark, which got three assists from Luz Juarez.

Cynthia Cassiano was credited with the shutout.
