SOCCER: Sanchez scores late to lift Tech boys past Palo Verde

Eduardo Sanchez took a short pass off a corner kick and scored the lone goal of the match with four minutes remaining Friday to lift Tech's boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over Palo Verde in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic at Cimarron-Memorial.

Joel Velazquez took the corner, and Sanchez cashed in.

Tyler Harvey made eight saves to earn the shutout for the Roadrunners.

Cimarron-Memorial 1, Chaparral 0 — At Cimarron, Ernan Hernandez scored just more than 10 minutes into the second half off an assist from Jonathon Ornelas to lead the Spartans by the Cowboys in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.

Richard Crews had six saves to earn the shutout.

Foothill 4, Cheyenne 1 — At Cimarron, George Meyer had a goal and two assists to lead the Falcons over the Desert Shields in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.

Michael Carnahan had a goal and an assist, and Trent Milne and Devin Henriott also scored for Foothill.

Otonieo Hernandez scored for Cheyenne.

Legacy 4, Sierra Vista 0 — At Cimarron, Matthew Beasley had two goals and an assist to help the Longhorns top the Mountain Lions in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.

Daniel Quinones and Austin Stephens each scored once for Legacy.

Juan Orpineda and Oliver Garcia combined on an eight-save shutout.

Clark 5, Liberty 0 — At Green Valley, Ivan Lopez had two goals and an assist, and the Chargers did all of their scoring in the second half on their way to a win over the Patriots in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.

Enrique Villarreal had a goal and an assist, and Oscar Mata and Alex Perez also scored for Clark.

Ronaldo Sandoval made three saves to earn the shutout.

Las Vegas 1, Durango 1 — At Green Valley, the Wildcats scored the tying goal on a corner kick with five minutes remaining to earn a draw with the Trailblazers in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Durango's Marcos Delangel-Parra converted a first-half penalty kick.

Western 1, Coronado 1 — At Green Valley, Isaac Arellano converted a penalty kick with two minutes remaining to allow the Warriors to tie the Cougars in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.

John Lynam scored early in the first half for Coronado.

Green Valley 3, Arbor View 0 — At Green Valley, Antonio Trama scored twice as the Gators topped the Aggies in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.

Richardo Nunez scored, and Connor Malone added two assists for Green Valley.

Salvatore Hicks made three saves en route to the shutout.

Bishop Gorman 4, Truckee 0 — At Reno, Justin Rasmussen and Jeffrey Wright each scored twice to lift the Gaels over the Wolverines in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Darryl Wyatt and Jacob Hoapili combined on the shutout, making one save apiece for the Gaels.

Bishop Gorman 3, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Reno, Slade Weber and Hayden Madsen each scored once as the Gaels downed the Crusaders in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Wyatt and Hoapili each made one save and combined on the shutout for Gorman, which also benefited from an own goal.

Faith Lutheran 1, McQueen 1 — At Reno, Brock Hagge headed in Logan Buckley's corner kick with 10 minutes remaining to allow the Crusaders to tie the Lancers in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Faith Lutheran collected a victory in the tournament standings by downing McQueen, 3-1 in the penalty-kick shootout.

GIRLS

Centennial 4, Spring Valley 0 — At Centennial, Ryleigh Yanke, Shannon Hutchins, Victoria Cera and McKenna Stratton each scored once as the Bulldogs blanked the Grizzlies.

Kellsey Meechudhone had two assists for Centennial.

Allison Riddle made seven saves to earn the shutout.

Rancho 6, Durango 2 — At Rancho, Saippress Jones scored three goals to lead the Rams by the Trailblazers.

Yesenia Godoy, Marlene Godoy and Faith White also scored for Rancho, which got two assists apiece from Morgan Wilson and Lujan Acuna.

Alyssa Nunez scored twice for Durango.

Basic 4, Boulder City 0 — At Boulder City, Sydnie Hopkins and Darby Cox each had a goal and an assist to lead the Wolves past the Eagles.

Sara Lieber and Sabrina Moreira each had a goal for Basic.

Bryanna Johnason and Monique Silva combined on the shutout.

Bishop Gorman 3, Reno 1 — At Reno, Hannah Borgel had a goal and an assist to help the Gaels top the Huskies in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Gianna Gourley and Arlie Jones also scored for Gorman.

Bishop Gorman 2, Spring Creek 0 – At Reno, the Gaels won by forfeit in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Faith Lutheran 1, Reno 0 — At Reno, Megan Donnelly's goal with seven minutes left in the match allowed the Crusaders to nip the Huskies in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Beka Lescenski made five saves to earn the shutout for Faith Lutheran.

Faith Lutheran 4, Truckee 1 — At Reno, Kristi Chinn, Donnelly and Madison Sonerholm each had a goal and an assist as the Crusaders downed the Wolverines in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Brenna Rohnkohl also scored for Faith Lutheran.
