VOLLEYBALL: Valley rallies from two sets down to top Liberty

Marty Heavey had 21 kills, and Rodney Quito added 12 kills and 19 digs Wednesday as the Vikings rallied for a 28-30, 19-25, 25-18, 25-9, 15-10 home victory over Liberty.

Alex Sandoval contributed 47 assists, 16 digs and eight blocks for Valley.

Brycen Ivester led Liberty with 41 assists and five digs. Mike Meatovich had 11 kills, and Ian Tia added eight kills for the Patriots, who also got nine digs from Robin Pedro.

Desert Pines 3, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Estanislao Lansangan had 26 assists, 17 digs, six kills, five aces and three blocks, and Ortega Wiltz chipped in with 10 kills, 10 digs and four blocks as the Jaguars outlasted the Miners, 25-23, 21-25, 30-28, 25-14.

Angel Rocha contributed 16 digs, eight assists and eight aces for Desert Pines.

Domeenic Mota had 12 kills and five aces, and teammate Bobby Brass added seven aces, three blocks and two kills for Sunrise Mountain.

Palo Verde 3, Bishop Gorman 1 — At Palo Verde, Cole Wilson had 42 assists, and Michael Simister and Tristan Bradford each notched 11 kills as the Panthers overcame the Gaels, 25-11, 18-25, 25-15, 25-21.

Parker Nelson added 10 kills for Palo Verde.

Legacy 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Zaire Franklin recorded 10 kills, seven digs and five aces, and Anthony Delgado had 31 assists and four blocks as the Longhorns swept the Trailblazers, 25-21, 25-11, 25-10.

Anthony Madden had seven kills and five digs, and teammate Jonathan Shawkey supplied six kills and five blocks for Legacy. Omari Wheeler added five aces and four kills for the Longhorns.

Durango’s Jaylen Clark had nine kills, seven digs and two blocks, and Andre Shabazz had 19 assists and three digs for the Trailblazers. Frank Patricio added nine digs and four kills, and Marc Viernes added 11 digs for Durango.

Las Vegas 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Las Vegas, Luis Wong had 25 assists, and Jonathan Sosa had eight digs and seven kills to help the Wildcats sweep the Pioneers, 25-12, 25-19, 25-16.

Trevor Swenson added six kills and five digs, and teammate Alli Stewart had seven kills for Las Vegas.

Maurice Hunter had eight kills and five blocks, and Edward Cromwell passed out 12 assists for Canyon Springs, which got three kills and two blocks from Michael Winston.

Bonanza 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Bonanza, Andrew Jensen had eight kills, three aces and four digs, and Justin Michela added six kills to lead the Bengals to a 25-15, 25-12, 25-15 sweep of the Diamondbacks.

Luis Raygoza contributed 22 assists and eight digs, and Robby Adair had five kills and seven digs for Bonanza.

Tech 3, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Josh Wood had 19 assists and 10 kills to guide the Roadrunners to a 25-23, 25-17, 26-24 sweep of the Dragons.

Eric Sebastian had 15 assists, and teammate Bryant Pochop added 11 kills and six digs for Tech.

La’akea Cabanas provided 12 kills, 11 assists and 10 digs to lead Del Sol.
