SOFTBALL: Wildcats use sixth-inning rally to down Falcons

Skylar Gorrell tripled home the tying runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored the winning run on Paulina Franco’s single as host Las Vegas High’s softball team rallied for a 9-8 win over Foothill on Thursday.

Bethany Connell reached second base on an error to start the sixth and moved to third on Samantha Taylor’s one-out single. After a fly out, Gorrell tripled to tie the game, and Franco followed with the winning hit.

Taylor had three hits for the Wildcats, who trailed 8-5 after four innings.

Megan Causey doubled and singled for the Falcons.

Silverado 5, Valley 0 — At Silverado, Hanna McCall tossed a three-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Skyhawks blanked the Vikings.

Madison Sisco was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Korina Pindel was 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Silverado. Jessica Chamberlain and Sarah Ford each went 2-for-3 for the Skyhawks.

Moapa Valley 6, Chaparral 4 — At Overton, Kessa Evans threw a two-hitter and struck out seven to lead the Pirates past the Cowboys.

Kinlee Marshall went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and DaniElle Russo was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Moapa Valley, which broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the fifth inning.

Arbor View 8, Shadow Ridge 7 — At Arbor View, Taylor Beaman drew a bases-loaded walk on a 3-and-2 pitch with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Aggies rallied by the Mustangs.

After Shadow Ridge scored five runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-5 lead, the Aggies responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Kayla Stephens homered to start the inning, and after a single by Brittany Henricksen, Arbor View drew four straight walks to force in the tying and winning runs.

Alisha Schultz doubled twice for Shadow Ridge.

Basic 10, Faith Lutheran 4 — At Faith Lutheran, Courtney Huff was 2-for-5 with two RBIs to help the Wolves down the Crusaders.

Lexi Edmunds was 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Adriana Cruz was 2-for-3 for Basic. Alyssa Ferguson went 2-for-4 with three runs for the Wolves.

Makena Martin and Samantha Jack each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Faith Lutheran.

Liberty 17, Canyon Springs 4 — At Canyon Springs, Ashleigh Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and the Patriots scored eight runs in the third inning en route to a five-inning win over the Pioneers.

Breanna Alvarez and Marisa Olmos each supplied two hits for Liberty.

Lizet Rodarte and Tea Rivera each went 2-for-3 for Canyon Springs.

Palo Verde 12, Legacy 0 — At Palo Verde, Cara Beatty went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, and Kelsea Sweeney tossed a five-inning one-hitter with four strikeouts to lead the Panthers by the Longhorns.

Mackenzie McBride was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Dejanae Gage and Grace Chavez each went 2-for-3 for Palo Verde.

Sunrise Mountain 18, Del Sol 3 — At Del Sol, winning pitcher Andrea Garner was 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs as the Miners topped the Dragons in five innings.

Joceline Ruiz was 3-for-4 with a double, and Arieonna Herrera went 2-for-4 for Sunrise Mountain.

Alex Hoyer was 2-for-2 with a double, and Noa Bowie went 2-for-3 for Del Sol.

Virgin Valley 20, Desert Pines 5 — At Desert Pines, Taylor Barnum was 5-for-5 with two home runs, three runs and six RBIs to lead the Bulldogs by the Jaguars in five innings.

Winning pitcher Emma Barnum was 4-for-5 with a double and three runs, and Tylee Robison went 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs for Virgin Valley.

Amari August went 3-for-3 with two runs, and Maiya Richardson was 2-for-3 with a run for Desert Pines.
