FLAG FOOTBALL: Maloney’s perfect day helps Trailblazers edge Grizzlies

Amanda Maloney connected with Alexis Villanueva on an 8-yard scoring strike with 46 seconds remaining on Thursday to give Durango’s flag football team a 28-26 home win over Spring Valley.

Maloney was 15-for-15 passing for 164 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Trailblazers. She also ran for 137 yards and two scores.

Villanueva caught five passes for 57 yards, and Danielle Melton added two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Sierra Vista 18, Shadow Ridge 7 — At Sierra Vista, Calista Reyes rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Mountain Lions over the Mustangs.

Kalei Watkins completed 4 of 7 passes for 114 yards, including a 60-yard TD pass to Neomi Vazquez.

Vazquez also had an interception.

Desert Pines 18, Sunrise Mountain 6 — At Sunrise Mountain, Tavasha Banks ran for 87 yards and two touchdowns and recorded two sacks as the Jaguars downed the Miners.

Francis Jackson rushed for 18 yards and a touchdown for Desert Pines.

Cheyenne 20, Moapa Valley 6 — At Overton, the Desert Shields scored three second-half touchdowns to top the Pirates.

Maxine Crum, Dorothy Chapman and Jocelynn Alston had TD runs for Cheyenne.

Hattie Gordon threw a 60-yard TD pass to Heilish Gordon for Moapa Valley.

Legacy 7, Palo Verde 0 — At Legacy, Nicole White threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Tierra Watson early in the first half and the Longhorns held on to beat the Panthers.

Aujaneh Jackson and Tavia Wells each had an interception for Legacy, which held Palo Verde on a goal-line stand midway through the second half.

Del Sol 12, Canyon Springs 7 — At Del Sol, the Dragons overcame a 7-6 halftime deficit to top the Pioneers.

Canyon Springs’ Tea Rivera threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Brianna White in the first half.

Las Vegas 41, Valley 19 — At Valley, the Wildcats outscored the Vikings 20-0 in the second half en route to the victory.

Silverado 18, Liberty 0 — At Silverado, the Skyhawks shut out the Patriots.
