TRACK: Gillis sends Trailblazers to victory in three-team meet

Durango’s Kameron Gillis won two events and was second in another to lead the Trailblazers to victory in a three-team home meet.

Gillis won the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, and took the 400-meter dash in 58.66 seconds. He also was second in the 100, as Durango won with 46 points.

Palo Verde was second with 36, and Calvary Chapel had eight.

In the girls meet, Palo Verde won all three contested relays to win with 52 points.

Durango was second with 17, and Calvary Chapel had 12.

Centennial sweeps home meet

At Centennial, Anyah Nutter and George Espino won two events to lead the Bulldogs to the title in the boys meet.

Nutter edged Bonanza’s De’Andre Garcia in the 110 hurdes 15.499 to 15.5. Nutter also took the 200 (23.4).

Espino won the 1,600 (4:33.8) and 3,200 (9:51.2) for the Bulldogs, who finished with 111½ points to beat Bonanza (48½) and Spring Mountain (4).

In the girls meet, Tiana Bonds won three events as Centennial topped Bonanza, 123-37.

Bonds was first in the 100 hurdles (14.2), 400 (1:02.5) and long jump (17-4¾).

Kenya Owens won the 200 for the Bulldogs in 27.6 and tied for first with teammate Leilani Blanche in the 100 at 13.4.

Bonanza’s Sianna Nelson won the triple jump (31-2), 300 hurdles (53.0) and was second in the long jump.

Shadow Ridge tops Spring Valley, Indian Springs

At Shadow Ridge, Lorenzo Jensen and Jayden Cook each won two events to lead Shadow Ridge’s boys to victory in a three-team meet.

Jensen won the 110 hurdles (17.0) and 300 hurdles (45.3), and Cook won the 1,600 (5:15.7) and 3,200 (10:57.1) for the Mustangs, who finished with 109 points.

Spring Valley was second with 35, and Indian Springs had 13.

Sope Faga won the shot put (45-7) and discus (117-0) for the Thunderbirds.

In the girls meet, Kiyana Tolbert and Jessica Graf each won twice as Shadow Ridge won the ome meet with 105½ points.

Tolbert took the 200 (28.1) and 400 (1:04.6), and Graf won the 1,600 (6:12.8) and 3,200 (12:49.7) for the Mustangs.

Spring Valley was second with 35½, and Indian Springs had 14.

Gorman boys edge Diamondbacks

At Bishop Gorman, sprinters Daniel Stewart and Austin Nobis led the Gaels to a 67-66 win over Desert Oasis.

Stewart won the 100 (11.19) and was second in the 200. Nobis won the 200 (22.81) and was second in the 100.

Desert Oasis’ Demetrius Lewis won the 110 hurdles (17.89) and 300 hurdles (45.95).

In the girls meet, Desert Oasis topped the Gaels, 74-62.
