BOYS BASKETBALL: Price pays off as Bengals down Pirates

DaVonta Price had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots Friday to help Bonanza’s boys basketball team to a 57-42 win over visiting Moapa Valley.
Jamal Logan added 21 points, and DeAndre Hicks scored 12 for the Bengals, who used a 21-5 third-quarter run to put the game away.
Andrew Huerta had 13 points, and Bunker Wimer scored 10 for the Pirates.
Sierra Vista 70, Liberty 53 — At Liberty, Mikko Balmes had 23 points to lead the Mountain Lions by the Patriots.
Nino Flores added 12 points, and Giovanni Santana scored 11 for Sierra Vista.
Tyler Newman led Liberty with 15 points.
Palo Verde 54, Mojave 51 — At Mojave, Graeson Vereen had 11 points as the Panthers edged the Rattlers.
Billy Sparks scored 10 points for Palo Verde, which outscored Mojave 24-13 in the fourth quarter.
Melvin Irvey had 14 points, and Omar Federico and Malik Abbott each scored 12 for Mojave, which finished just 15-for-32 from the free-throw line.
The Meadows 58, Pahranagat Valley 28 — At The Meadows, Jake Epstein scored 14 points, and Eric Hirsberg added 11 points as the Mustangs routed the Panthers.
Christian Higbee had 13 points for Pahranagat Valley.
Hillsboro (Ore.) 41, Western 38 — At Western, the Spartans held off the Warriors.
Deaven Klepek had 12 points, and Keon Lea scored 10 for Western.
Laughlin 42, Indian Springs 9 — At Laughlin, Brett Smith had 13 points, and the Cougars raced to leads of 27-1 after one quarter and 38-2 at halftime in a rout of the Thunderbirds.
David Rain had 10 points for Laughlin.
Austin Thomas and Julian Peete each had three points for Indian Springs.
