Three local baseball tourneys set for spring break

High school baseball fans certainly won’t be lacking for options this week.
Three prep tournaments, involving 66 teams, are scheduled to take place during spring break. Included in that total are 23 Southern Nevada varsity teams scheduled to compete in one of the three tournaments. A handful of other teams are headed out of town to participate in other tournaments.
Chaparral’s Cowboy Classic already is under way and runs through Thursday. Tech and Desert Pines join the host team in the six-team field.
Durango’s Blazer SportCo Spring Bash begins Monday and wraps up Wednesday.
Slated to participate in the 37-team field are: Arbor View, Bonanza, Boulder City, Centennial, Coronado, Desert Oasis, Desert Pines, Las Vegas, Legacy, Liberty, Pahrump Valley, Palo Verde, Sierra Vista, Spring Valley and host Durango.
Bishop Gorman starts its Desert Classic on Wednesday, with the final games scheduled for Saturday.
Among the 24 teams in the two divisions of Gorman’s tourney are: Cimarron-Memorial, Eldorado, Rancho, Shadow RIdge, Valley and the host Gaels.
Below is a schedule for each tournament. Horizon (Calif.) is scheduled to play in both the Durango and Gorman tournaments.
