ROUNDUP: Sierra Vista rolls past Bonanza

Brooks Klein had a triple, a home run and two RBIs to help Sierra Vista to a 9-3 road victory over Bonanza on Friday.

Winning pitcher Jake Hager had a double and a home run, and Tommy Barnes and Scotty Tomassetti each added two hits for Sierra Vista.

Bonanza’s Kris Bryant had a single and a triple.

Spring Valley 5, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Spring Valley, Garrett Blair tossed a complete-game five-hitter to help the Grizzlies beat the Trojans.

Blair, who struck out 10 while allowing no walks, also went 2-for-4 to lead Spring Valley at the plate.

Teammates Chase LaComb and Jackson Morrow each went 1-for-3.

Valley 11, Chaparral 8 — At Chaparral, Jesse Acosta went 3-for-5 with a double to help lift the Vikings over the Cowboys.

Eric Herring went 2-for-5 to help Valley, which took over early with a six-run second inning. Teammate Hansel Escamilla went 2-for-4 with a double.

John Leafdale went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead Chaparral, which made it close with a five-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.

Bishop Gorman 8, Douglas 0 — At Hadland Park, Stephen Manthei struck out 14 in a three-hitter to lead the Gaels to the win in the semifinals of the Gorman Easter Classic.

Manthei had no walks and hit one batter.

R.J. Santigate (2-for-3) and Erik Van Meetren each belted three-run home runs.

Rancho 13, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Scott Koenen went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs to help the Rams down the Pioneers.

Kevin Kline, who struck out seven in three innings, and P.J. Matha combined on a five-inning one-hitter.

Eldorado 17, Desert Pines 4 — At Desert Pines, Alan Guerrero went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, a run and six RBIs to lead the Sundevils past the Jaguars.

Eldorado’s Eric Larsen went 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs. Winning pitcher Cory Keplinger struck out eight and went 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs.

Cimarron-Memorial 12, Silverado 3 — At Cimarron, Kris Kaplan went 2-for-2 with a home run and five RBIs to lead the Spartans past the Skyhawks.

Kaz Smith went 2-for-4 with a triple to help Cimarron, which broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning. Teammate A.J. Hernandez also went 2-for-4.

Las Vegas 10, Durango 1 — At Durango, Miguel Ortiz threw a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts to lead the Wildcats over the Trailblazers.

Bryce Harper doubled three times and drove in a run, and Tanner Chauncey and Tim Daniels each added two hits for Las Vegas.

Faith Lutheran 6-5, Moapa Valley 0-1 — At Faith Lutheran, Christian Lopez went 5-for-6 with two doubles on the day to lead the Crusaders to a doubleheader sweep over the Pirates.

Christian Unruh tossed a five-hit shutout to win the first game for Faith Lutheran, and teammate Alex Barnes won the second game with a three-hitter.

Virgin Valley 5-9, Boulder City 1-4 — At Mesquite, Travis Leavitt went 2-for-3 and struck out 11 in six innings in the opener as the Bulldogs swept the Eagles.

Ty Tait was 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the second game, helping the Bulldogs take a 9-1 lead after five innings.

Boulder City’s Ross LaMarca hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning of the second game.

Lake Mead 9, Indian Springs 6 — At Lake Mead, the Eagles jumped ahead with a four-run fourth inning and held on to beat the Thunderbirds.

Junior Mora went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Lake Mead. Teammates Spencer Kowis and Deven Serrano also went 2-for-3.

West Wendover 14-19, Mountain View 7-13 — At Mountain View, Xavier Lara went 6-for-9 with eight RBIs to lead the Wolverines to the sweep.

West Wendover managed just five hits in the first game but took advantage of seven Mountain View errors to score 12 unearned runs.

Mountain View made 17 errors on the day.

In the second game, Junior Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run and three RBIs for West Wendover, which built a 17-5 lead going into the bottom of the fifth.

The Saints then scored eight runs in the fifth after two outs before Rodriguez relieved and struck out six of the next 10 batters he faced.

Tanner Peterson had five hits in the doubleheader for the Saints.
 
Trinity 16-7, Sandy Valley 3-6 — At Trinity, Gage Neuwohner was the winning pitcher in both games and struck out 24 Sandy Valley batters in the doubleheader as the Thunder rolled to a sweep.
 
Neuwohner tossed a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the opening game, called after five innings due to the mercy rule. Neuwohner had three hits, including a home run and a double, and four RBIs in the game. Drew Logan added a three-run homer for the Thunder.
 
In the nightcap, Neuwohner struck out 13 in 4 2/3 innings. Avery Harden went 2-for-3 with a double for the Thunder.
