UNR completes three-game sweep of UNLV baseball team

Austin Byler had a home run, a triple and three RBIs, and Cameron Rowland pitched seven strong innings Saturday to lift UNR to a 6-2 win over UNLV and a three-game sweep of the teams’ Mountain West baseball series in Reno.

Kewby Meyer had two doubles and two RBIs, and Jordan Devencenzi went 3-for-4 with an RBI as the Wolf Pack (26-6, 12-3) dealt the Rebels (12-18, 2-13) their seventh straight loss and improved to 5-1 against UNLV this season.

Rowland (4-2) gave up two runs on five hits and one walk and struck out six. He shut out the Rebels after Joey Armstrong’s two-run homer in the third inning opened the scoring. UNR reliever Zach Wilkins worked two perfect innings and struck out three.

Rebels starter Blaze Bohall (3-2) allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk and struck out three in 5 1/3 innings. Armstrong had two of UNLV’s five hits.
