Drizzle won’t hang around Las Vegas, but cool temps will

The rain that trickled down throughout the Las Vegas Valley on Wednesday is not here to stay.

“It’s a typical late fall, early winter rain storm,” National Weather Service meteorologist Nathan Foster said.

The scattered showers throughout the valley were expected to end by noon, producing sparse totals. McCarran International Airport measured about .02 inches of rain at 10 a.m.

“We may see a few more sprinkles, but it shouldn’t amount to much,” Foster said.

Most of the precipitation fell in the mountains, measuring about three to six inches of snow. Mount Charleston got about 2.6 inches of snow Wednesday.

The forecast for the rest of the week will mirror Wednesday: partly cloudy with highs in the low to mid 50s and lows closer to 40.

By the weekend, the valley will start to see a warming trend as high pressure starts to build up. We’ll be in the low 60s by next week, Foster predicts.
