Beer, barbecue, blues at the Cannery

Blues, Brews & BBQ, featuring live blues bands, food and beer, will take place today and Saturday at the Cannery, 2121 E. Craig Road in North Las Vegas.

The concert begins at 4 p.m. both days.

Entertainment today includes Bettye LaVette, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials, Michael Grimm and Jeneane Marie, and on Saturday, Coco Montoya, Bernard Allison, L.A. Jones & The Blues Messengers and Jeneane Marie.

Food will be available from H&H BBQ, Seven Seas Seafood, Smokin' Sams, Soul 2 Soul Bistro, Martino's Hot Wings and BBQ and Mister Softee Ice Cream.

More than a dozen microbrewed and craft-brewed beer and cider also will be served.

Admission is $5.

Celebrate Dad with music and food

The Woody Woods Orchestra will play classic jazz and blues Sunday in celebration of Father's Day at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza, the outdoor theater in Lorenzi Park, 720 Twin Lakes Drive.

Free hot dogs and beverages will be available while supplies last.

Woods, a pianist, composer and bandleader, has had a long career playing with many of the great names in swing, jazz and blues.

Vocal arrangements will be sung by Sophia Lelis and Melanie Moore.

Picnics are welcome, but glass containers aren't. Bring blankets or sand chairs for seating on the grass or lawn chairs for patio seating.

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7.
