Air Force erupts for 12-1 baseball victory over UNLV

Griffin Jax pitched eight strong innings, and Tyler Saleck went 5-for-5 with a home run, three doubles and five RBIs to power Air Force to a 12-1 win over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game Friday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Jax (1-3) held the Rebels (7-9, 1-6) to one run on five hits and one walk and struck out five. Bradley Haslam had three of the Falcons’ 16 hits, and Adam Groesbeck homered as Air Force (7-8, 4-3) won its fourth straight.
UNLV starter D.J. Myers (2-2), who entered with the best ERA among starters in the Mountain West at 1.71, was touched for six runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings. Erik VanMeetren, who went 2-for-3, was the lone Rebel with multiple hits.
