2016 Tacoma an instant hit at Findlay Toyota

When the 2016 Toyota Tacoma began arriving at Findlay Toyota in the Valley Automall a few months ago, the newly redesigned model drew immediate attention.

There’s good reason for the Tacoma’s appeal, considering that it has been a bullet-proof truck since it was introduced in 1995. The first-generation Tacoma covered years 1995 through 2004.

The second-generation Tacoma was named Motor Trend Magazine’s Truck of the Year in 2005 as its popularity gained worldwide attention. Sales in 2015 were recorded in countries all over the world.

As Toyota states in its literature, the 2016 Tacoma is built for the endless weekend stretching from city streets to the challenging conditions of the mountains to the desert where the vehicle is utilized for everything from the sand dunes of off-road racing to weekend family jaunts.

In short, the 2016 Tacoma is popular for many reasons especially at Findlay Toyota, where the Tacoma has been flying off the lot. The Tacoma models include the SR, SR5 and TRD Sport, all available in Access Cab and Double Cab packages.

The SR and the SR5 are available with either a 2.7-liter four cylinder with 159 horsepower or the 3.5-liter direct overhead cam V-6 with 278 horsepower. For the 3.5-liter V-6, that’s 42 more horsepower than the 2015 model.

Fuel economy for the 2016 Tacoma has also improved. The V-6 models get up to 19 miles per gallon in the city and 24 mpg on the highway compared to last year’s model, which received an EPA estimated 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

For greater comfort, the new 2016 Tacoma has available dual-zone automatic climate control and optional power sunroof, features that were not available on the previous generation. Where performance is concerned drivers who venture off the beaten path will enjoy the new crawl control feature that automatically handles off-road acceleration at low speeds. Each model is available with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel-demand part-time four-wheel drive.

Maximum performance and efficiency are made possible with an all-new tow package allowing the Tacoma to tow up to 6,800 pounds. The vehicle is available in two-door or four-door models.

The list of awards for the 2016 Tacoma is long and includes a Best Buy Award Finalist by Kelly Blue Book’s KBB.com for the Best Resale Value and the Best-Selling Compact Pickup in America.

In addition, HS Automotive named the Tacoma as the longest lasting vehicle of any full-line automobile manufacturer; and Reader’s Digest named the vehicle the Most Trusted Brand in the Import Automobile Category.

The 2016 Tacoma is priced from $23,300.

Changes that Toyota made with the 2016 Tacoma include the interior; the addition of the 3.5 liter V-6, the six-speed automatic transmission, the reinforcement of the cabin structure, pickup box dimensions, gross weight rating and the exterior temperature readout.

Dealership sales consultant Tai Kingon, who sells various models at the dealership, is especially enthusiastic about the 2016 Tacoma.

“The key to Toyota’s success is that the company is constantly upgrading or refining its line of vehicles,” Kingon said, “and the 2016 Tacoma is proof of that. “

Kingon added that the increased fuel economy and horsepower have also been big factors in the success of the 2016 Tacoma.
