Arrival of Focus RS hatchback generates big buzz at Friendly Ford
The 2016 Ford Focus RS all-wheel drive hatchback was carefully positioned on the showroom floor of Friendly Ford and, as expected, drew attention on a busy day at the dealership located at 660 N. Decatur Blvd.
Since its arrival during the summer, the Focus RS has proven to be a huge success and yet another example of Ford Motor Co.’s continued delivery of performance-driven machinery.
The World Rally champion for the past several years, the Focus RS is peppy, sporty and fun to drive. In an industry highlighted by a buzz of excitement, the Focus RS has driven traffic and generated strong results.
With so many customers now wanting performance, the Focus RS satisfies the needs with a selection of engines, including the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that generates 350 horsepower with 350 pound-feet of torque. Evidence of the excellent power package is the fact the vehicle goes from zero to 60 mph in only five seconds.
Mileage estimates range from 22 city to 40 highway depending on the power plant.
The handling of the Focus RS is the result of dynamic torque vectoring that produces impressive cornering speed along with unbridled driving equipment.
Additional amenities include selectable driving models, including a drift model that allows controlled oversteer drifts and launch control.
Major publications have included excellent reviews of the ’16 RS Focus.
According to Car and Driver, “The Focus RS’s 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four delivers power and torque as if the two have been packaged in a Kirkland-branded bundle. You get 350 of each — ponies and pound-feet — in a 3,459-pound package.”
Car Magazine wrote, “The Focus is consistently one of the top three best-selling cars in the U.K.” Motor Trend called it a “knockout” and Edmonds wrote “Potent turbo power with all-wheel drive; tenacious grip; stylish interior with many high-tech options.”
Friendly Ford sales consultant Marvin Gomez is not surprised at the attention generated by the 2016 Focus RS. In fact, he sold two Focus RS models and ordered one for himself.
“The 2016 Focus RS is good-looking, and it’s certainly fun to drive,” he said. “With the models built in Germany, there is a huge demand. This is the first time the Focus RS has been sold in the United States.”
Friendly Ford opened in 1970. The dealership is a 17-time winner of the prestigious President’s Award, Ford’s highest single honor for customer satisfaction.
