Findlay Kia welcomes 2017 Niro hybrid crossover model

Kia is on the run again with a new model that will be available sometime in early 2017.

The 2017 Kia Niro is a hybrid crossover sport vehicle now on display at Findlay Kia at 5325 W. Sahara Ave., and dealership sales consultant George Lucas Tadeo said the new addition to the Kia family has been well-received.

The Niro has an electric motor and an engine that work well together.

“What’s so interesting about the Kia Niro is that, pricewise, it’s between the Soul and the Sportage,” Tadeo said. The starting price will be less than $23,000.

“The Niro gets 50 miles to the gallon with a 600-mile range. In addition, it’s one of our vehicles that has dual-clutch transmission.”

Tadeo explained that the dual-clutch transmission provides a smoother shift and a smoother drive. “It takes the tension off one clutch when it’s shifting, which is unlike the traditional transmission as we know it.”

Other amenities that are being featured with the new Niro include Apple Car Play, Android Auto, smart cruise control and autonomous emergency braking — all new editions to the Kia brand.

“Kia is always searching for new ideas, and this is a great example of that,” Tadeo said. “Together with the 10-year, 100,000 mile that includes a five-year, bumper-to-bumper warranty, the Niro cannot be beaten.”

“We have had the Niro for a few months and the response has been very strong,” he said. “We have actually had people want to buy it off the showroom floor, but we have to tell them the model is not for sale.

“However, we are taking customer names so that we can communicate with them to let them know the status of the Niro.”

Headed by General Manager Byron Klemaske, Findlay Kia is part of Findlay Automotive Group founded in 1961 by the late Pete Findlay, whose son, Cliff, oversees 28 dealerships in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Oregon and Idaho.
