Findlay’s CUV Program perfect for customers looking for good value

Toyota’s motto “The best new cars make the best used cars” fits well with the buyers of preowned vehicles at Findlay Toyota in the Valley Automall. The Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Program paves the way for customers to capitalize on quality preowned Toyotas for less money with strong warranties.

Certified Toyotas are such a key portion of the transactions that the dealership recorded 1,507 certified vehicles sales in 2014. The dealership was ranked eighth in the country and first in the Denver Region in 2014.

This year’s sales of Certified Toyotas at the Findlay dealership will surpass last year’s mark by more than 106 percent by the end of December.

Preowned vehicles must first pass stringent criteria before being certified.

Only “the best of the best” qualify for the Toyota CUV Program that also includes a 164-point quality assurance inspection, with hybrids enduring 174 points. To be eligible for the designation, all Toyotas must have less than 85,000 miles. Included in the group are current year models and plus those six years older.

Stringent guidelines are required for a vehicle to meet the criteria including a Carfax vehicle history report.

Each vehicle qualified for the program will include a 12-month, 12,000-mile limited comprehensive warranty; a seven-year, 100,000-mile limited power train warranty from the in-service date along with a one-year roadside assistance.

In addition, certified customers are eligible for standard new car financing rates.

Dealerships used car manager Rob Martin said the dealership’s success with the Toyota CUV Program has added to the success of the dealership.

“If we sell 200 used vehicles, an estimated 150 of them will be certified,” said Martin, adding that Findlay Toyota was in fifth place in the nation and first in the region the second week of December.

Among the long list of customers using the Toyota CUV Program are those drivers participating in the Uber transportation service.

“The group of buyers ranges all the way from first-time buyer to seniors telling us it’s their last car.”

The list of happy customers who have capitalized on the program is long considering how long Toyotas last.

Longtime sports journalism broadcaster Ron Futrell is among the Southern Nevadans who are still driving Toyotas long after purchasing them. Futrell’s Toyota 4Runner has 388,000 miles.

Futrell bought his 4Runner new from Findlay’s Toyota dealership in Kingman in 1996.

“When I bought it new I told my kids that I was going to drive it until the wheels fell off,” Futrell said. “The wheels have not fallen off yet either. I have done nothing to the drive train in this car and have never had a serious problem.”

Futrell said he is also getting consistent high fuel mileage miles on the 4Runner.

“I don’t baby this car,” Futrell said. “I take it to the mountains and in the snow. It takes a knocking and keeps on rocking.”

Findlay Toyota is part of Findlay Automotive Group founded more than 50 years ago by the late Pete Findlay, whose son, Cliff, now spearheads 28 automobile dealerships in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Idaho and Oregon.

Findlay Toyota has been one of the top-selling dealerships in the country since opening in 1998. The dealership is headed by general manager Rich Abajian.
