Mustang fever headlines Friendly Ford

The Ford Mustang has been a part of the American automobile industry since its introduction in March 1964. It became a hit as soon as it was offered to the public after a giant celebration that gained instant notoriety.

The fever continues with the muscle car Mustang no matter what the year, especially during the springtime when the model is highlighted in cruises or car shows throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Pete Reyes is an 18-year employee who now works as shop foreman of Friendly Ford, so he could drive any of the models offered at the dealership situated at 660 N. Decatur Blvd.

However, Reyes drives a 2015 Mustang EcoBoost that marked the return of the four-cylinder turbo, which erupted in popularity as soon as it was offered.

“The 2015 model marked the return of the turbo four-cylinder after first being introduced in the mid-1980s,” explained the 35-year-old Reyes, a native of Bakersfield, California.

Reyes raves about the power and the fuel economy of the four-cylinder power plant.

“It’s got great power and even more impressive fuel mileage ratings,” Reyes said. “The vehicle comes stock with 310 horsepower and gets 31 miles to the gallon on the freeway.

“I don’t think you will find a better combination of power and fuel economy.”

Reyes said the ride is comparable to a family sedan that’s actually ready for the race track.

“It performs as you would expect with a sports car,” he said. “I added a lot to my Mustang, which is most definitely an eye-catcher. It definitely gets looks no matter where I go. People are constantly commenting about it.”

Reyes said 2016 Mustang is basically the same as the 2015 model.

“Most of the changes in the 2016 model have been cosmetic,” he said, “and include different color options along with different wheel options. The 2016 model also comes in the 5.0-liter GT Fastback California Edition.”

Reyes said the Mustang has remained a hit at Friendly Ford, especially considering how many employees drives one.

“I know of at least seven employees who drive a Mustang,” said Reyes, “and that includes people from various different departments.”

Also driving Mustangs are Internet Manager Taylor Warf, Finance and Insurance Manager Chris Montalvo, New Car Manager Eli Columbus, sales consultant Randy Block, Service Manager Danny Dunsmoor, receptionist Dae Robertson and service technician Derek Pace
