Silverado recording big numbers at Findlay Chevrolet

The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado truck arrived at Findlay Chevrolet about two months ago, and the fever has remained ever since.

According to off-road enthusiast and sales consultant Newell Olmstead, the new Silverado fits the needs of many in a region of the country highly dominated by those who enjoy the outdoors of Southern Nevada.

“There are so many key elements included in the 2017 Silverado,” said the 35-year-old Olmstead, a four-year veteran of Findlay Chevrolet. “By far, this is the best-ever Silverado. It’s the sleekest and also has 6.2-liter, 420-horsepower with 460 pounds of torque. There is nowhere that this truck cannot go.”

The performance of the ’17 Silverado is complemented by its towing ability that includes a 9¾-inch rear end, 3.42 gear ratio coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission, gas shocks, enhanced cooling radiator, revised shock tuning, heavier duty rear springs and increased rear gross axle ratio with a 9.76-inch rear axle.

“You now have the security of knowing that you can tow the extra weight when you’re pulling a boat or a sand rail,” Olmstead said.

The truck is available in two- or four-wheel drive. In addition, the Silverado also includes Apple and Android Car Play with 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot that can be hooked to as many as six devices with a range of more than 40 feet from the vehicle.

“You can be connected to the office while in the field or streaming a movie while on a road trip,” Olmstead said. “Chevy has you connected.”

General Motors added the LED running lights and quieted road noise by insulating the firewall and wheel wells.

Safety features include rear park assist, rear vision camera, lane keep assist, forward collision alert, low speed forward automatic braking, six-standard airbags, high-strength steel safety cage and OnStar automatic crash response.

“It’s the quietest truck on the market,” said Olmstead. “In fact, as a dealership, the sales of the truck has reached nearly 100 transactions. Hands down, people love this truck.”

Olmstead also said add-ons have been a big part of the ’17 Silverado.

“Lift kits, tires, wheels, leveling kits, performance exhaust and bed covers are among the add-ons being purchased,” Olmstead said.

The body style of the Silverado actually changed four years ago. Ddifferent headlights, blinkers and LED fog lamps have been added to the front end.

Even with its all-new horsepower, the ’17 Silverado features impressive fuel ratings with the six-cylinder getting 18 city and 24 mpg highway; the 5.3-liter V-8 gets 16 city and 23 highway; and the 6.2 liter gets 15 city and 21 highway.

Headed by General Manager Jamaal McCoy, Findlay Chevrolet is situated at 6800 S. Torrey Pines Drive in the southwest valley. The dealership is part of Findlay Automotive Group founded in 1961 by the late Pete Findlay, whose son, Cliff, now spearheads 28 dealerships in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Oregon and Idaho.
