Noose found on Resorts World Las Vegas site
A noose was found on the Resorts World Las Vegas site.
The under-construction hotel-casino said in a statement that lead contractor W.A. Richardson Builders was notified Wednesday a noose was found “in one of the towers.”
An investigation began immediately, and authorities were notified. Subcontractors and labor unions also were told that everyone on site “is expected to cooperate” with the probe to identify who is responsible so “appropriate action can be taken,” the developer said.
“There is no excuse for symbols or acts of racism and hatred to be present on our site and will not be tolerated,” the statement said. “We strive to achieve a diverse workforce and are committed to creating an environment that is inclusive and welcoming for all.”
Resorts World, a $4.3 billion project by Malaysia’s Genting Group, said it would not comment further “at this time.”
The noose was found at the north Strip project site in the wake of sweeping protests around the nation, including in Las Vegas, sparked by the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who died last month after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly 9 minutes.
