National Hardware Show returning to Las Vegas in October

A hardware convention has rescheduled for this fall in the newly built section of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Organizers of the National Hardware Show announced Wednesday the event is scheduled to take place Oct. 21 to 23 in the convention center’s West Hall.

The show was previously slated to be held May 11 to 13, also at the convention center. It is now moving to the new area of the massive venue off the north Strip.

“After consulting key industry stakeholders and attendees, the decision to postpone to October was made to ensure maximum safety for all involved and to produce a successful event for all our participants,” Beth Casson, event leader for the show, said in a news release. “We know how eager everyone is to come together again, and are excited to unite in a brand new, state-of-the-art space in October.”

The hardware show isn’t the only one scheduled for the convention center’s $980 million expansion site.

World of Concrete is slated to be the first show in West Hall, in early June, said Lori Nelson-Kraft, senior vice president of communications for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the facility’s operator.

Southern Nevada’s lucrative convention industry went dark last year because of the coronavirus pandemic as business gatherings moved online over fears of the outbreak.

The only convention to be held at the convention center since Las Vegas rapidly shut down in March was car show Mecum Auctions, in November, Nelson-Kraft confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Southern Nevada Health District announced it will offer second doses of the coronavirus vaccine at the convention center starting this week.

Overall, there are 31 shows, with at least 5,000 attendees each, scheduled to be held in the convention center this year, LVCVA communications director Erica Johnson said.

However, she noted that “the situation remains extremely fluid so this number will likely shift.”
