Las Vegas resorts offering discounted rooms for those impacted by LA wildfires
Hotel and resort operators across the Las Vegas Valley are stepping up to assist evacuees and those displaced by the fires in Southern California.
Major casino hotels, such as Resorts World, Fontainebleau, Treasure Island, South Point and Virgin are offering discounted room rates for Californians fleeing the raging fires. Other operators, such as Wynn Resorts, are making financial contributions to the ongoing efforts on the West Coast.
In a statement Thursday, Resorts World Las Vegas says that from Jan. 9 until Jan. 17, the property is offering a “a special LA Support Rate” for those affected by the wildfire. The property is offering residents of Los Angeles and the surrounding area 35 percent off rooms and suites in its Hilton and Conrad hotel towers.
Resorts World said that guests can book the discounted rooms by calling 702-676-7036 and mentioning the “LA Support Rate.” The special rate is only available by phone and cannot be booked online.
Likewise, Fontainebleau Las Vegas is offering a discounted rate for displaced Californians, based on availability. To book, call 833-702-7272.
In a statement Thursday, the resort said, “Our hearts go out to those who are affected by the devastating fires in Southern California. While a tragedy like this is unfathomable, we look to offer a safe place of rest and refuge during this heartbreaking time.”
Treasure Island Las Vegas is offering California residents affected by the Los Angeles wildfires a $79 room rate now through Jan. 31, subject to availability. To book, residents must call 1-800-288-7206 and let the reservation operator know they are calling for this specific rate.

Las Vegas casino resorts are finding other ways to step up and help as well.
Wynn Resorts is donating $1 million to two organizations assisting with the humanitarian response to the fires. The company is donating $700,000 to the American Red Cross and $300,000 Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
The Las Vegas-based gaming and hospitality company also announced the launch of an employee-donation program with Wynn pledging to match contributions dollar for dollar.
“Our hearts go out to those who have been impacted by the devastating Southern California wildfires,” said Craig Billings, chief executive officer of Wynn Resorts. “In times like this, there is little that can be done to console the immense loss that so many people are experiencing but we remain at the ready to assist in any way that we can.”
Beyond the city’s resort corridor, Las Vegans are also able to help those fleeing the fires in Southern California through an Airbnb.org partnership with 211 LA, a Southern California-based nonprofit that connects people in need with resources. Airbnb.org, the nonprofit arm of the commercial entity, finds temporary housing for displaced individuals during emergencies. Together, the two organizations can connect those in need with available homes in the Las Vegas Valley.
Airbnb waives all service fees for Airbnb.org hosts and guests. Hosts who sign up to share their home through Airbnb.org receive damage protection and liability insurance with AirCover for each booking.
