Clark County, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City and Mesquite will share $5.44 million in room tax revenues collected in March and April, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority board determined on Tuesday.
The allocation is equal to 10 percent of the total room tax revenue received by the convention authority for stays during that time period. Clark County will receive $2.28 million; Las Vegas, $1.55 million; North Las Vegas, $574,213; Henderson, $705,928; Boulder City, $119,741 and Mesquite, $217,711.
The board also approved a $350,000 purchase of a 0.3-acre parcel at 3332 Swenson St. as part of its efforts to bank land around the Convention Center.
The seller, Arthur Petrie, paid $735,000 for the property in 2006, before the real estate bust.
The board approved $100,000 to help fund the Laughlin Veterans Day Festival; $271,000 to exhibit at London's World Travel Market in November; $430,000 to exhibit and host activities at the 2012 World Routes Development Forum Trade Show in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; and $188,000 to exhibit at the International Association of Exhibitions and Events Expo! Expo! in Orlando.
