Clark County coroner rules homicide in east Las Vegas woman’s death

The 70-year-old Las Vegas woman found dead Wednesday in her east valley home has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

The coroner’s office ruled the cause of her death was asphyxia and the manner a homicide.

Mary Margaret Trimble, a former principal violist for the Nevada Chamber Symphony and for the Las Vegas Philharmonic, was found by the cleaning service company she had hired to come to her home Wednesday morning, Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said.

Metro officers responded to 3267 Dawnflower St., a gated community near Desert Inn and Pecos roads, around 10 a.m. for a report of a body found.

Crime scene investigators found the residence ransacked and burglarized, said McGrath, who noted there were no signs of forced entry.

Her longtime friend Barbara Gurley, the principal cellist in the Nevada Chamber Symphony, played in a string trio with Trimble.

Gurley said she will remember Trimble for her skills as a musician and for her “incredible sense of humor.”

“Whenever we weren’t playing, we were always laughing,” Gurley said. “She just was always laughing and she was highly intelligent, and I think her sense of humor is what got her through the difficulties in her life.”
