Coroner identifies pedestrian killed Friday
A woman who died Friday after being struck by a vehicle that drove onto a sidewalk was identified Monday by the Clark County coroner’s office as 56-year-old Theresa Valdez.
Las Vegas police said the crash occurred about 5:40 p.m. at East Owens Avenue and North Teton Street.
Police said Cristina Cortes, 23, was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon east on Owens Avenue when she lost control and drove onto the north sidewalk.
The right side of the vehicle struck Valdez.
Valdez, of Las Vegas, was knocked to the ground, and Cortes returned to the roadway. Valdez was pronounced dead at University Medical Center.
Cortes waited at the scene for police.
