Grand jury indicts woman accused in Las Vegas cab driver killing

A grand jury indictment was handed down Wednesday against a 21-year-old former U.S. Army soldier charged in the shooting death of a cabdriver
March 4.

Autumn Dawn Murry faces one count each of murder with use of a deadly weapon, burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of armed robbery in connection with the slaying of Las Vegan Tesfaye Arze, 30. Murry is also accused of robbing a Mini-Mart in the 4500 block of East Russell Road, near Mountain Vista Street.

Arze was robbed of $224.60 while $500 was taken from the store, a police report states.

Arze was found with a gunshot wound to his head early on March 4 in the 6300 block of High Sierra Avenue, near Mount Hood Street and Carey Avenue, just a block from the address on Murry’s driver’s license.

The key piece of evidence in the case was a security video released that showed two people in the cab shortly before Arze was found. One person is believed to be Murry. Police are still looking for the other person, Felicia Mosley, 18, of Las Vegas.

Murry was wearing a wig and had two Greyhound bus tickets to Denver when she was arrested March 11 at her sister’s apartment near Paradise Road and Twain Avenue.

Through surveillance video and cooperating witnesses, police pinpointed Murry’s movements shortly before and during the shooting, police said.

A store clerk identified Murry from a photo lineup, and several of her family members identified her from the cab’s surveillance footage.

A longtime friend of Murry’s told police that on March 9 Murry disclosed that she and a woman identified only as Felicia fought with a cabdriver because they didn’t want to pay the fare. The friend told police Murry said she shot the driver in the head.

Murry is set to be arraigned in district court next week. She is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
