Las Vegas man gets 14 to life in wife’s slaying
A 70-year-old Las Vegas man was sentenced Thursday to 14 years and eight months to life in prison for gunning down his wife outside the Palace Station in January 2007.
Raffick Sahibjohn entered an Alford plea in September to second-degree murder and coercion with use of a deadly weapon. An Alford plea means Sahibjohn did not admit guilt but acknowledged prosecutors could prove their case against him.
At the time of the shooting Sahibjohn told investigators that Isha Sahibjohn, 65, his wife of 40 years, came at him with a knife before he fatally shot her with a 9 mm Glock handgun .
Although Las Vegas police found a knife under the body, witness accounts differed from the husband’s story.
Witnesses said they saw Raffick Sahibjohn yelling at his wife, according to court documents. As his wife tried to leave, he rushed her and shot her multiple times, witnesses said.
