Man shot in North Las Vegas in serious condition
A 19-year-old man was shot on the sidewalk on Martin Luther King Boulevard near Carey Avenue on Monday afternoon, North Las Vegas police said.
Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said the man was shot once in the upper torso about 4:30 p.m. He was in serious condition at University Medical Center on Monday evening.
Coon said the motive for the shooting was unknown. She said detectives were looking into whether the shooting stemmed from an altercation at a nearby convenience store. Investigators were also trying to determine whether the man who was shot was approached on foot or whether it was a drive-by shooting.
Coon said several witnesses were speaking to police Monday evening. She added police were searching for at least one suspect. Detectives were not ready to release a description of the suspect Monday evening.
