Rocker Vince Neil begins serving DUI sentence

Rock singer Vince Neil turned himself in to the Clark County Detention Center on Tuesday to serve out a two-week sentence for drunken driving in June.

In January, the Mötley Crüe frontman pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. As part of a plea deal , he will spend 15 days in the Clark County Detention Center and 15 days on house arrest.

The 50-year-old also must pay a $585 fine, attend DUI school and take part in an online victim impact panel.

Prosecutors had sought jail time because of a 1984 drunken driving crash in California that resulted in a man’s death.

About 11 p.m. on June 27, Las Vegas police pulled over a Lamborghini on Desert Inn Road, near Las Vegas Boulevard.

Authorities said Neil was driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone and was weaving between lanes when he was pulled over.

According to the police report, Neil told officers he had three glasses of champagne and was at the Las Vegas Hilton before the arrest. It also stated he had bloodshot eyes, smelled of alcohol, was swaying, and his speech was slurred.

Neil failed several field sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer test. According to the report, his blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.

The arrest came after Neil said he had stopped abusing drugs and alcohol.
