Two people die in crash near downtown Las Vegas

Two people were killed Saturday morning in a three-vehicle crash near downtown Las Vegas, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 10:45 a.m. at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Symphony Avenue, near Alta Drive.

Las Vegas police said a 2007 Hyundai Elantra was heading south on Martin Luther King and turned left onto Symphony in front of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer heading north on Martin Luther King.

The Trailblazer crashed into the right side of the Elantra, which spun and crashed into a 1995 Mazda MX6 that was stopped on Symphony.

The 56-year-old male driver of the Elantra was taken to University Medical Center and pronounced dead, police said. The 54-year-old female passenger of the Elantra was pronounced dead at the scene.

Other people involved in the crash suffered minor injuries, police said.

The crash remained under investigation, police said.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the identities of the deceased at a later date.
