Woman sentenced in December road-rage shooting
A woman accused in a road-rage shooting on the Strip in December was sentenced Monday to eight to 20 years in prison, according to District Court records.
Brittanie Merritt-Burwell, 22, shot a 29-year-old man after he blocked her from changing lanes while driving on the Strip on Dec. 23. just before midnight, according to Las Vegas police reports.
She was arrested on Dec. 30 outside of a Burger King in the 3600 block of West Tropicana Avenue. Her boyfriend Joshua Youngblood, was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and harboring a felon.
Merritt-Burwell, of Glendale, Ariz., pleaded guilty to attempted murder in February.
Judge David Barker sentenced Merritt-Burwell to serve eight to 20 years, the maximum sentence for attempted murder.
Youngblood’s trial is scheduled for May 12.
