Las Vegas police said they arrested two people Friday afternoon and one man was found shot to death during a homicide investigation that began earlier in the day, when a person showed up to a police substation with a tip.

Tonya Dillard, 27, and her boyfriend Jacob Berkovitz, 24, were charged with murder with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery after police said the couple used a dating ad to lure a person whom the couple then robbed and killed in the victim’s home on the 2200 block of North Colebrook Street.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ray Spencer said that a person called police to report the caller’s friend, Dillard, and her boyfriend had recently killed a man and were planning to hide his body in California.

That was sometime after 11 a.m. Friday. About six hours later, Spencer said, Las Vegas police were at a residence in the 2200 block of North Colebrook Street.

He said police searched the house and found a man who had been shot to death in a bathroom.

Police said Dillard had been injured by gunfire when Berkovitz shot the victim and was treated for her injuries.

The man’s name will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Spencer announced the homicide case during a 2 a.m. briefing about an unrelated homicide that developed late Friday night.
