2 children found at scene of apparent murder-suicide in Henderson

Updated February 17, 2021 - 8:12 pm

Henderson police said two young children were found uninjured at the scene of an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 3000 block of Sunridge Heights Parkway, near Seven Hills Drive, around 6:30 p.m. for a welfare check, according to a statement from the Henderson Police Department.

Officers discovered a 25-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man dead at the scene.

In a news release issued Wednesday morning, police said two children, ages 2 and 14 months, and two dogs also were found in the residence. Police said all were unharmed.

Any relationship between the man and woman remains unclear. The Clark County coroner’s office will identify them once their relatives have been notified.

Tuesday’s incident followed a string of apparent murder-suicides in Henderson last year.

In November, police said a 42-year-old man shot and killed his ex-wife, 34, then himself in an apparent murder-suicide. The incident happened on the 3000 block of Warm Springs Road, near Green Valley Parkway.

In August, police said an 82-year-old man apparently shot his wife, also 82, before killing himself in an apparent murder-suicide. The shooting happened on the 2800 block of Sapphire Drive in Sun City Anthem.

About a month prior, police in June said a man fatally beat and stabbed his wife in an attempted murder-suicide on the 500 block of Via Baglioni in Henderson. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, who survived knife wounds to his chin and neck, was charged with murder. In December he was found incompetent to stand trial.
