2 suspects arrested in deadly Las Vegas shooting; victim ID’d

The man found dead in the driveway of a northeast valley home Monday morning has been identified and two suspects in his death have been arrested.

Angel Guzman Jr., 22, was found with a gunshot wound to the head in front of a home on Jackie Drive, near Nellis and Lake Mead boulevards. A mother driving by with her child saw Guzman covered in blood and notified police just after 8 a.m.

Three to four men had been drinking in front of the residence Sunday night and into the early hours of Monday, Las Vegas police said. Witnesses reported numerous beer bottles at the scene.

An argument took place among three males, which escalated into the shooting, police said. Two suspects, Rodrigo Rodriguez, 25, and Kely Byron Lemus-Leyva, 19, were arrested in connection with the killing.

The two men were taken into custody at a nearby apartment complex shortly after police were called. They had been caught on home surveillance video near the scene about 8 a.m.

“There was a firearm recovered,” Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said Monday.

Rodriguez and Lemus-Leyva were each charged with murder with a deadly weapon, police said.

This is the 79th homicide investigated by Metro in 2016.
