Good Samaritan killed trying to stop North Las Vegas robbery
North Las Vegas police are investigating a Saturday morning homicide after a man was killed trying to intervene in a convenience store robbery.
Officers responded at about 7 a.m. to the 300 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard, near Losee Road, for reports of a robbery.
Police said a woman entered the store and stole several items before getting into a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee with California license plates. The man who was killed tried to stop her from leaving the scene when the Jeep struck him, North Las Vegas police spokesman Aaron Patty said.
Arriving officers found the man in the parking lot suffering from critical injuries, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, where he died.
The Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide, Patty confirmed Saturday. The man who died will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office once his family has been notified.
His death marks the 137th homicide in Clark County and the 17th investigated by North Las Vegas this year. Anyone with information may call the Police Department at 702-633-9111 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
