Las Vegas police investigate homicide in northern valley

Updated July 25, 2022 - 1:16 pm

Las Vegas police were investigating a homicide Monday morning in a gated community in the northern valley.

Police said they were called to a report of a stabbing in the 3500 block of Full Sail Drive, near Las Vegas Boulevard North and Cheyenne Avenue, at 9:05 a.m. One man was found dead at the scene, and a second man was taken into custody.

Las Vegas police Lt. Jason Johansson said a woman emerged from her home on Full Sail to find a man in the street in grave condition from multiple stab wounds. She immediately called 911. The man, approximately 20-years-old, died at the scene.

Johansson said police were able to follow a blood trail to a home roughly three doors down from where the dead man was located. He said police later took an unidentified man believed to be connected to the stabbing into custody at a residence on nearby East Gowan Road.

“They have not been arrested for this but they have been detained, and we do believe it is the person associated with this,” Johansson said.

Police were still investigating what prompted the stabbing.
