Police say gunfire was exchanged in possible road rage shooting in west Las Vegas
The Metropolitan Police Department has determined that there was an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles in a possible road rage shooting that left a man dead in the west valley late Sunday night.
According to authorities, at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, police received a report of a shooting near South Jones Boulevard and Alta Drive.
The person reported that their friend had been shot in a vehicle and they were en route to University Medical Center. Officers arrived to the hospital and located a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside of a vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead by medical personnel, police said.
According to police, the investigation indicated that the person reporting the incident and the victim were traveling southbound on South Jones Boulevard in their vehicle.
At some point, police say a verbal dispute took place with the driver of a dark-colored truck who is described as being a White or Hispanic man with brown hair and wearing glasses.
Shots were then fired, and the victim was struck, authorities said.
The suspect vehicle fled southbound on Jones Boulevard after the shooting.
