Suspect arrested in Las Vegas woman’s death

The man police arrested Friday as a suspect in an Aug. 12 homicide was on parole for an attempted robbery and ordered to complete a mental health program, court documents show.

Jaime Santana, 25, was arrested in the area of Valley View Boulevard and Washington Avenue, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

At 12:24 a.m. Aug. 12, police responded to a report of a dead woman found in a residence in the 300 block of Lilac Lane, near Rancho Drive and West Bonanza Road, Metro said.

The woman was later identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as 25-year-old Cinthia Wendy Perez Rodriguez. She died of blunt force injuries, the coroner’s office said, and her death was ruled a homicide.

On July 7, Santana was sentenced to a minimum of 12 months’ and a maximum of 36 months’ parole after a guilty plea in an attempted robbery, case, a court sentencing document shows. Additionally, six stipulations were outlined as part of Santana’s parole, including that he “attend and successfully complete the Clark County Mental Health Court program,” the sentencing document said. It’s unclear whether he completed the program.

On Tuesday, police found the 2015 Toyota Scion they said Santana may have been using; the vehicle was located near Valley View Boulevard and Washington Avenue.

Santana was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of open murder, one count of robbery and one count of grand larceny of an auto, booking records show.
