Woman killed at motel near Las Vegas Strip

Updated May 8, 2021 - 2:03 pm

A woman died Friday afternoon following a domestic disturbance with a man near the Strip.

Police were called at 2:40 p.m. to a Motel 6, 195 E. Tropicana Ave., near Koval Lane, after a report of an injured woman, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Richard Meyers.

Investigators believe the woman was involved in a domestic disturbance and fell over in the stairwell of the motel before she died, Meyers said. During the dispute, the man pulled out a knife and stabbed her, police said in a statement Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meyers said police are investigating witnesses, but it was unclear what relationship existed between the man and the woman.

Police suspect the man ran north after the woman fell. He was not in custody as of Saturday afternoon.

He is described as a Black man in his mid-20s and about 6 feet tall.
