FBI puts up $5,000 reward for info leading to capture of serial burglar
The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of a man suspected in a rash of burglaries in the Chinatown area.
The Metropolitan Police Department said in a September 25 press conference that the suspected serial burglar was believed to have committed 29 burglaries in the Spring Mountain Road corridor since June.
“Someone knows this individual,” Deputy Chief Jose Hernandez said in the press briefing.
The FBI reward money was announced in a Metro press release on Thursday.
“The individual is suspected of burglarizing over thirty businesses,” the release said.
Police said surveillance video showed the suspect as being a man who is between 20 and 40 years old who is between 5 feet, 2 inches and 5 feet, eight inches tall.
The suspect typically wears dark colors but also bright colors too, police said. Police showed a photo of him in a bright blue body suit. He also covers his entire face and wears large gloves that resemble welding gloves, Hernandez said in the briefing. Hernandez also noted that the man’s sneakers are distinct and he often wears brightly colored shoes.
The burglaries have all occurred typically in the early-morning hours, police said.
