1 dead in shooting in southwest Las Vegas, police say
Las Vegas police are investigating a fatal shooting in the southwest valley Wednesday night that appeared to be “domestic related.”
Police were called at about 8:20 p.m. to a home on the 5900 block of Belcastro Street, near South Tenaya Way and West Russell Road, after a report of an “altercation” between a man and a woman, said Metropolitan Police Department homicide Sgt. Matthew Sanford. Shortly after that report, police received a 911 call from the scene reporting a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his mid-20s lying in the driveway of the home suffering from a gunshot wound, Sanford said. Another man, in his 50s, was detained for questioning in the shooting.
The man who was shot later died, Sanford said.
The woman involved in the initial altercation and the man detained for questioning were cooperating with police, Sanford said. The relationship between the two men was unknown Wednesday night.
Detectives determined that a verbal and physical fight led to the shooting, Sanford said.
“As of right now, this seems to be an isolated incident that is domestic related,” he said.
Police have received two domestic violence-related calls to the home in the past year, but the calls didn’t involve the suspected shooter, Sanford said.
The scene remained under investigation Wednesday night.
