1 hospitalized after shooting near UNLV

A man is hospitalized after being shot in the chest at an apartment complex near UNLV on Monday night.

Multiple people reported the shooting to Las Vegas police just before 10:30 p.m. Officers arrived at the Hampton Court Apartments at 3955 Swenson St., near Flamingo Road, where they found one person with a single gunshot wound.

The man, whose age was unknown, was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, Metro spokesman Michael Rodriguez said.

Police said the shot man was involved in a domestic dispute with his roommate before leaving the apartment. He then got into an altercation with a neighbor. He reportedly punched the 63-year-old neighbor who then retrieved a firearm and shot him once in the chest, Rodriguez said.

The neighbor was taken into custody at the scene.
