Apparent road rage leads to troopers fatally shooting person in Jean
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers shot and killed an armed person Thursday evening outside an NHP substation in Jean, authorities said.
The shooting occurred after an apparent road rage incident on Interstate 15, the Highway Patrol said.
About 5:50 p.m., authorities received a call from a person who said they were being chased on I-15 by a person who brandished a firearm in a black Ford F-150, NHP spokesman Travis Smaka said during a media briefing at the scene.

The two vehicles got off the interstate and drove to parking lot at the Nevada Highway Patrol substation in Jean, which is about 30 miles south of Las Vegas.
Smaka said two troopers inside the substation heard the vehicles pull up and went outside.
They saw the suspect get out of the Ford truck, brandishing a gun toward the other person involved in the apparent road rage dispute, Smaka said. Both troopers fired at the suspect, he said.
It was unclear Thursday night whether the suspect pointed the firearm at the troopers before the shooting. Police also did not say what type of weapon the suspect carried.
No other injuries were reported.
The shooting occurred about two hours before another road rage incident on the interstate turned deadly. At about 8 p.m. in Las Vegas, a man in his early 20s was shot and killed near Russell Road and I-15. Las Vegas police said the man approached another driver with a gun at the end of a road rage despite. The other driver pulled out a gun and killed the man in his 20s, police said.
The Highway Patrol will conduct a more formal news briefing about its officer-involved shooting on Friday, Smaka said.
