Las Vegas police released body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting Sunday in south Las Vegas.

The video released at a news conference Wednesday shows Officer Andrea Mitre discharging her weapon at suspect Cory Iturribarria, 38, after police said Iturribarria emerged from a home in the 10800 block of Rosalba Street carrying a 12-gauge shotgun and a 9 mm handgun.

The incident started at 1:28 p.m. when police received a 911 call from someone at the home. Assistant Sheriff Chris Jones said the caller did not speak to dispatchers, but authorities could hear a person in the background screaming. Jones said the man screaming was Iturribarria, and that he could be heard threatening to kill his family during a domestic dispute.

“I’ll kill everybody!” a man could be heard yelling during the call.

Jones said when police responded, an older man who is Iturribarria’s stepfather emerged from the home. The man told police his wife was still inside the home with her son, Iturribarria.

“The elderly male expressed to the officers his concern about Mr. Iturribarria’s mental state and he informed the officers that Mr. Iturribarria was armed with a shotgun and a handgun,” Jones said. “The elderly man also stated Mr. Iturribarria had threatened to kill his wife, him as well as the police.”

Iturribarria then emerged from the home holding two guns and started to raise them when he was shot by the officer, Jones said.

“Mr. Iturribarria opened the screen door and stepped out holding the shotgun and the pistol in his hands,” said Jones. “As he did this he raised those firearms toward Officer Mitre.”

Iturribarria was wounded in the shooting and remained hospitalized Wednesday at University Medical Center in serious but stable condition, Jones said.

Jones said police had been to the same house the night prior and that Iturribarria was taken to a hospital and screened because of concerns about his mental stability. It was not clear when he was released.
