Two men died and a third was hospitalized after a Tuesday night shooting near downtown Las Vegas, police said.
The shooting was reported about 8:20 p.m. at May Avenue and Center Drive. Two men died at the scene, and the third was taken to University Medical Center, where he was expected to survive, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Robert Plummer.
Officers did not have a description of the shooter, Plummer said, but several homes in the area have surveillance systems that may reveal more information. An unidentified vehicle was seen speeding away from the area after the shooting, according to police.
“We’ve had a pretty violent past week,” Plummer said. “This is just another example of gun violence coming into play. We’re not sure the reason behind it, but there’s just too many guns on the street and people resorting to gun violence.”
The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the men who died after their next of kin are notified.
