Theater
Audition for the devil at Insurgo
You live in Sin City? Why not dance with the devil?
Onstage. Get naked while you’re at it.
All this sinning can be yours simply by auditioning tonight for "Faustus," set to be staged by John Beane’s Insurgo Theater. Adapted from Christopher Marlowe’s "The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus," it tells the devilish tale of Dr. Faustus’ deal with said Satan, in which the misguided doc exchanges his soul for knowledge and power.
See if you’ve got the stuff to be the pope, the emperor of Germany, the king of Hungary, the duke of Saxony or numerous other roles, not to mention Lucifer/Mephistopheles/Beelzebub himself.
(And yes, there is some nudity .)
Just show up at 6:30 p.m. at the theater at the Plaza, at 1 Main St. For more information, call 772-3897.
By the way, you can even play one of the Seven Deadly Sins (Pride, Covetousness, Wrath, Envy, Gluttony, Sloth and Lechery).

Chamber Symphony welcomes new year
Your ears can belatedly ring in 2012 in classy — not to mention classical — style with Sunday’s free concert courtesy of the Nevada Chamber Symphony.
Presenting its "Name That Tune" concert, the third of its "Classic Touch" series, the ensemble, now in its 27th season in Las Vegas, plans to rock the Clark County Library Theater, classical style. Expect the chart-toppers, so to speak, from the likes of Haydn, Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Dvorak and Verdi. Also on the program will be a musical tribute to Martin Luther King Jr.
Check it out at 3 p.m. at the library at 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Though the event won’t cost you a plug nickel (or a red cent, for that matter), reservations are suggested because of limited seating. Call 433-9280.
