Cincy chili mix found in valley

Cincinnati chili definitely has a distinctive flavor — how could it not, with chocolate and cinnamon in the mix? — and all of the layering that turns it into two-, three-, four- or five-way is even more offbeat. Bert Durham now can make his own, thanks to fellow readers who found the seasoning mix for him.

Paul McClain said it’s available at Village Meat & Wine at 5025 S. Eastern Ave., Julia Moore and John Bear said they find it at www.Amazon.com, and James Frank and Carl R. Harley said it’s available at www.SkylineChili.com or www.CincyFavorites.com (or call 877-246-2999). …

For Steve and Candy Jaeger, Don and Amy Apitz e-mailed that porchetta seasoning can be ordered from Hamm’s Butcher Supply, 14205 Highway 65 NE, Ham Lake, MN 55304 (or call 763-755-0180). And Robb Worth suspects that the “incredible” Italian-style porchetta sold at www.Costco.com in three sizes is close, if not the same. …

For Janice Hamiter, who’s looking for Dreamfields pasta, JoAnne McMaster said she gets it at Smith’s at 4600 E. Sunset Road in Henderson, although she has to order some cuts, such as lasagna and angel hair, at the company’s web site, www.Dream fields Foods.com (or call 800-250-1917). …

Also for Hamiter, Megan Hubble said Bob’s Red Mill Whole Wheat Pastry Flour can be found in organic and nonorganic versions at Sunflower Farmer’s Market at 3365 E. Tropicana Ave. (there’s another Sunflower at 4020 S. Rainbow Blvd.). Sharon Roybal finds it at Whole Foods Market (where she calls and orders it by the case), and Suzanne Atfield has spotted it at the Oroweat Bakery Outlets at 2548 Wigwam Parkway in Henderson and 5191 W. Charleston Blvd. …

For Mary Ruth Luna, Ron Lutz at The Butcher Block, 7625 S. Rainbow Blvd., said he carries tortilla-crusted and lime tilapia. …

More on liver and onions: T. Aber e-mailed that it’s always on the menu at Tiffany’s Cafe at White Cross Drugs, 1700 Las Vegas Blvd. South. …
